Terms of Use
Last updated: 20 June 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Hi Enjoy! ("JoyCode", "we", "us" or "our") and govern your access to and use of the JoyCode viewer, the JoyCode website, the JoyCode account system, the AI agent, code completion, and all related software and services (together, the "Service"). By downloading, installing, creating an account for, or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the Service.
1. Who we are
The JoyCode viewer and the JoyCode store were created by the company Hi Enjoy!. JoyCode is a third-party viewer for the Second Life platform and an associated set of online services for building in Second Life. We are an independent project and are not Linden Research, Inc.
2. Eligibility and accounts
To use the AI agent and other account features you need a valid Second Life avatar and a JoyCode account. You must meet Second Life's own age and eligibility requirements to hold a Second Life account, and you must comply with them at all times. You register a JoyCode account by confirming ownership of your avatar through a one-time code we deliver to you in-world, then setting a password.
- You may hold one JoyCode account, tied to a single avatar.
- You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account.
- You must give accurate information and keep it current.
- Tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
3. The Software and its open-source basis
The JoyCode viewer is a third-party Second Life viewer built on the Firestorm viewer, which is itself based on the official Second Life viewer source released by Linden Lab. Those underlying components are open source and are distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 2.1 and other open-source licenses. Your rights to those open-source components are governed by their respective licenses, and nothing in these Terms limits the rights granted to you under them. These Terms apply to the JoyCode-specific software, branding, online services, and AI features that we add on top of that base, and to your use of the Service as a whole.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the JoyCode-specific Software for your own building work, subject to these Terms. We keep all rights we do not expressly grant.
4. Relationship with Second Life and Linden Lab
JoyCode is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Linden Research, Inc. Your use of Second Life through JoyCode remains fully subject to Linden Lab's agreements, including the Second Life Terms of Service, the Second Life Community Standards, and the Second Life Third-Party Viewer Policy. You are responsible for reading and following them. If anything in these Terms appears to conflict with Linden Lab's policies as applied to your activity in Second Life, those policies continue to apply to your conduct on the platform.
You agree not to use JoyCode in any way that the Second Life Third-Party Viewer Policy or Terms of Service prohibit. This includes, without limitation, not using the Service to copy, export, or capture content, scripts, or assets that you do not own or do not have the right to use, and not using it to disrupt the Second Life service or other residents.
5. The AI agent
The Service includes an AI agent that helps you write and edit Linden Scripting Language (LSL) code. To assist you, the agent can read the content you have open in your active workspace, such as the scripts you are editing, details about the object you are working on, the parcel you are on, and the inventory you have opened in the editor. The agent can propose changes and apply them to your scripts.
- In ASK mode the agent shows you a before-and-after preview and waits for your approval before writing.
- In AUTO mode the agent applies edits directly, so you should review the result yourself.
- You choose which model to run per session, and you choose when to accept the agent's work.
To generate responses, the prompts you send and the relevant workspace content described above are transmitted to our servers and processed, in part, by third-party artificial-intelligence providers acting on our behalf. We do not control how those providers train their underlying models, and you should not send the agent anything you are not permitted to share or process.
AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for your purpose. It is provided without any warranty of correctness. You are solely responsible for reviewing, testing, and deciding whether to use any code the agent produces, and for anything you publish or run in Second Life as a result. Keep your own backups of important scripts.
6. Code completion
The viewer also offers local code completion. When enabled, it runs on a model that you download and that runs on your own computer. Code completion uses your computer's resources and does not send your work to our servers to produce its suggestions. As with the agent, you are responsible for reviewing any suggestion before you use it.
7. Plans, credits, and billing
The viewer, the IDE, and code completion are free to use. The AI agent runs within a usage allowance that refreshes over a rolling seven-day period. Free and paid (Pro) plans, and the size of their allowances, are described on the Plans page and may change over time.
- Credits are an optional extension of an active paid plan. They are used only after your weekly allowance is spent, and only when you switch them on.
- Credits require an active paid plan. If your plan lapses or ends, any credits on your account are not lost; they simply pause and become available again when you start a new plan.
- Plan prices are shown on the Plans page in the listed currency and may be revised. Paid plans renew for the period you select unless cancelled.
- Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid are non-refundable.
We may change plans, allowances, credit behaviour, and pricing. Where a change is significant and affects an active paid plan, we will make reasonable efforts to give notice through the Service or the website.
8. Acceptable use
You agree that you will not, and will not attempt to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to infringe the rights of others, including intellectual-property and privacy rights;
- use the agent or code completion to create scripts intended to grief, spam, defraud, harass, surveil, or harm other residents, or that function as malware;
- use the Service to copy, extract, or reproduce content, scripts, or assets you do not own or have no right to use;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with Second Life's systems or with JoyCode's usage allowances, security, or access controls;
- probe, attack, overload, or disrupt our servers, infrastructure, or the third-party services we rely on;
- resell, sublicense, share, or commercially exploit access to your account or to the hosted Service without our written permission;
- reverse engineer, or build automated tools against, the hosted (server-side) parts of the Service. This restriction does not apply to the open-source components described in section 3, which remain governed by their own licenses.
9. Your content and intellectual property
You keep ownership of the scripts and content you create or edit with the Service. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you give the agent to read or modify. By using the agent, you grant us a limited license to process that content as needed to operate the Service and provide responses to you. We do not claim ownership of your scripts.
Code produced with the agent's help is yours to use, subject to any third-party rights and to your responsibility for reviewing it. You are responsible for how you use that code in Second Life.
10. Our intellectual property
The JoyCode name, branding, website, account system, server software, and the proprietary AI features we add are owned by Hi Enjoy! and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms do not transfer any of those rights to you. The open-source components described in section 3 remain the property of their respective authors and are licensed to you under their own terms.
11. Privacy
Our handling of your account information and usage data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Please read it to understand what we collect and why.
12. Updates to the Software
The Software may update automatically or prompt you to update so that you have the latest fixes, features, and security improvements. Continuing to use the Software after an update means you accept the then-current version of these Terms.
13. Third-party services
The Service depends on third parties, including Second Life and Linden Lab, the artificial-intelligence providers that help generate agent responses, and any payment provider used for paid plans. Your use of those services is also governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, availability, or content.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that AI output will be correct or fit for your purpose, or that your scripts and content will never be lost. You are responsible for keeping your own backups.
15. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Hi Enjoy! and JoyCode will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, scripts, content, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the three months before the event giving rise to the claim.
16. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hi Enjoy! and JoyCode from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, or your breach of these Terms or of Linden Lab's policies.
17. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, in whole or in part, if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or create risk or legal exposure for us or for other users. You may stop using the Service and uninstall the Software at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, make reasonable efforts to notify you through the Service or the website. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
19. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the place where Hi Enjoy! is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms removes any consumer-protection rights you have under the mandatory laws of your country of residence.
20. Contact
For questions about these Terms, you can reach the JoyCode team through the contact channels published on the JoyCode website.
